Code P06DD Low Oil Pressure or No Oil

Condition: The oil control valve may be jammed open, causing high oil pressures (95 psi), and the oil pump face may be harmed. The vehicle setting code is P06DD.

Cause: The tensioner spring in the timing chain guide could not properly seat into the pivot end of the guide. 

The timing chain tensioner guide needs to be replaced. Replace the oil pump if the face is worn through or damaged. Check the bearings for wear and damage from oil pump debris. 

Procedure for Service: The tensioner spring in the timing chain guide could be "short" and not entirely seat into the pivot end of the guide.

The reaction of the oil pump is unaffected by cycling the oil pump control valve. 

1) The pivot is not reached by the short spring 

Additionally, a damaged tensioner shoe could permit the spring to rip a hole in the oil pump.
