Cause: This is also caused by one of the subsequent conditions: Active fuel management (AFM) lifter that's automatically folded and/or stuck all of the time.Internal protection pin harm within the lifter, because of oil aeration.
A lifter has collapsed and is stuck in the lifter bore. The engine could have a bent push rod. Correction: Inspect the shaft for harm whereas the lifters are far from the engine. If damage is found, replace the camshaft. If service info diagnosing doesn't isolate the reason for this concern, the valve operation ought to be inspected. If the valve(s) aren't moving, replace the valve lifter oil manifold and affected bank of AFM lifters. If the lifter has spun the bore, the guides should even be replaced. 2 approved processes for removing the lifter once stuck within the bore:
1. Use vice grips with a slide hammer. Note: make sure NOT to pry on the waterproofing surface of the block, as shown within the illustration below.
2. Use vice grips with a tiny low pry bar. Typically, one amongst the on top of approved processes can take away the lifter that's stuck in the bore. If not, the engine will be replaced. With the lifter removed, make sure to examine the bore for any damage. Typically, the lifter bores will look smart with no indication of damage.
