 DTC P0016 and P0018 troubleshooting

impacted vehicles 

2017-2019 LaCrosse, Buick, 2018–2020 2016-2019 Buick Regal 2016–2019 Cadillac ATS 2016-2020 Cadillac CTS 2017-2020 Cadillac CT6 2020 Cadillac CT5 3.0L or 3.6L V6 Cadillac XT5 

Cadillac XT6 3.0L or 3.6L V6 in 2020 

2016-2020 2017–2020 Chevrolet Camaro 2019-2020 Chevrolet Colorado 2017–2020 Chevrolet Blazer Acadia GMC 2017–2020 GMC Canyon 

Condition: The Check Engine MIL may be flashed and DTCs P0016 (Crankshaft Position - Intake Camshaft Position Not Plausible Bank 1) and P0018 (Crankshaft Position - Intake Camshaft Position Not Plausible Bank 2) may be set. 

The Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Park Lock Solenoid Valves (also known as Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valves) sticking in the actuator or separating and leaving a portion of the valve locked in could be the source of the DTCs.

During compressor 

Reinstall both control valves as appropriate. 

Inlet Crankshaft Actuator Park Lock Injectors should be taken apart for servicing to check for damage or sticking. If there are any difficulties with the performance or corrosion is detected, replace both actuation valves.
